Making Terrain

씨제이 블로썸 파크

Year of Completion: 2017

Project Location: Gwanggyo, Korea

Client: CJ Croup

CJ Blossom Park, which sits in a 35,320m2 (8.7 acres) land, is a Korean conglomerate’s R&D headquarters, home to the company’s brainpower. Abutting one of the public parks designated in the mountains, the landscape also serves the citizens who visit the park during their everyday life, while representing the company’s identity and providing recharging outdoor space for the researchers.

Landform making was the primary strategy of solving many problems given to the landscape architect, including treating the severely cut edge at the border between the site and the city-owned mountain and designing the strolling paths and rooftop gardens. PARKKIM drew extensive construction documents to deliver the intended forms and materiality to the contractor. The ‘Blades’ reinforce the stability of landforms and delineate the undulating terrain. The reflection pond at the main entrance resulted from many studies on the depth of the water, framing of the stones, and the combination of all, to present the company’s identity in the most indirect and poetic way.
